Rodney Alan Greenblat(1960- )
Born in 1960 in California suburb, Rodney Alan Greenblat made the move to New York via Washington, D.C. in 1978. He began exhibiting his work in small galleries in New York's East Village which at the time was a breeding ground ground for the most Avanta Garde creations of the day. Greenblat has developed into major artistic force in the artworld of the 1980's. Since then he has become the center of solo exhibitions, including a museum retrospective traveling across the United States throughout 1987 and 1988. He has also been featured in over seventy five group shows abroad. Combining suburbia with the excitement of Pop culture, Greenblat creates characters who are at once familiar, yet startlingly original. Greenblat, who paints primarily in acrylics, is a virtuoso in the print medium as well as pastels, pencil and charcoal. He has worked extensively with sculpture on both an intricate as well as monumental scale. Recently, Greenblat has taken to drawing in computer graphics and is expanding the realm of that medium. Rodney Alan Greenblat gives us a world of harmony, a place where imagination and reality can peacefully coexist. His collection are exhibited in many of Museums and galleries including the Whitney Museum, New York, and others.
